YWCA NCA Hosts Voter Registration Drives in Washington DC

From LeAnn Harley: The YWCA National Capital Area (NCA) will host a series of voter registration drives leading up to the voter registration deadline in October. Starting on Friday, July 13th from 9:30am – 6:00pm the YWCA NCA will open its doors to all Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia residents to register to vote in their main lobby, located at 2303 14th Street NW, Suite 100, Washington, DC 20009.

“Voting is the most powerful voice we have in order to help effect the key issues facing us today.” said Tamara Smith, CEO of the YWCA NCA. “Some of the most critical issues impacting women today are at the center of this year’s elections. We must fight to increase women’s income, stop violence against women and eliminate racial injustice. It is imperative that we participate in electing the right candidates who will help us support these issues.”

The YWCA NCA is a proud partner in the YWCA USA’s “Your Future, Your Voice, Your Vote” initiative and will use the drives to encourage local residents to fill out registration forms for their designated state. All registrants will receive detailed information about the voting process. The voter registration drive will be held twice a month on the following Fridays; July 13th, July 27th, August 10th, August 24th, September 7th, September 21st and October 5th from 9:30am – 6:30pm.
