Night of the Living Zoo: Adult Halloween Bash at the National Zoo

Check out this story from Metromix about how to celebrate Halloween in a different kind of way...at the Zoo!  The event will be held on Friday, October 29 from 8 p.m. - 12 a.m.:

Join the National Zoo for an adult Halloween bash! Wear your best costume while enjoying the National Zoo by moonlight. Experience many different areas of performance art including palm readers, fire eaters, talking bats, and illusionists.  The night will climax with a performance by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, named one of the Best New Bands of 2010 by Rolling Stone Magazine. All who attend are invited to dress their most ghastly and to dance until the clock strikes midnight.

Columbia Heights Neighborhood Fires Prompt Investigation, Authorities Seek Tips

This community notice comes to us from  Pete Piringer of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Services (DC F&EMS):

Fire Investigators assigned to the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Services Department are seeking the assistance of the community in regards to several vehicle fires in the Columbia Heights and Mt. Pleasant areas. 

Between the dates of August 24, 2010 through this past weekend, September 26, 2010, there have been multiple vehicle fires across the city.  While some of the fires occurred in various quadrants of the City, a few car fires were reported in the vicinity of the Woodner Apartments in Northwest.

ANC 4B Meeting To Take Place Tonight on Georgia Avenue

 Tonight, Monday, September 27th from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m., the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 4B will hold their monthly meeting. 

The Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANC) 4B discusses a range of policies and programs affecting parts of Brightwood as well as other neighborhoods, including traffic, parking, recreation, street improvements, liquor licenses, zoning, economic development, police protection, sanitation, trash collection, and the District's annual budget.

The meeting, which is held on the fourth Monday of each month, will take place at the 4th District Metropolitan Police Department located at 6001 Georgia Avenue in NW.
