Last week, we wrote of a fight that began in the cafeteria of Anacostia High School that extended onto the streets of D.C.

WTOP Reports Naked Fireman Placed on "Enforced Leave Without Pay"

Remember the controversy surrounding the Columbia Heights fireman who was photographed naked inside the firehouse on the 3400 block of 14th Street?

Well WTOP is reporting that the fireman, who was cooking eggs in the nude, "has been placed on enforced leave and is now the subject of a new investigation".

The main difference between the old investigation and the new investigation, according to WTOP's interview with D.C. Fire Chief Dennis Rubin, is that the man will now be on "enforced leave without pay".

Columbia Heights Neighborhood Fires Prompt Investigation, Authorities Seek Tips

This community notice comes to us from  Pete Piringer of the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Services (DC F&EMS):

Fire Investigators assigned to the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Services Department are seeking the assistance of the community in regards to several vehicle fires in the Columbia Heights and Mt. Pleasant areas. 

Between the dates of August 24, 2010 through this past weekend, September 26, 2010, there have been multiple vehicle fires across the city.  While some of the fires occurred in various quadrants of the City, a few car fires were reported in the vicinity of the Woodner Apartments in Northwest.

Three Crimes Reported in Brightwood Over Weekend

The following three crimes were reported in the Brightwood area on August 28th:

  • A burglary was reported in an unoccupied building on the 6100 block of Georgia Avenue.
  • A carjacking incident with a gun was reported on the 5700 block of 4th Street.  
  • A theft, under $250, was reported on the 6200 block of 5th Street.

Man Found Dead on Georgia Avenue in Petworth

Eric Right, 22, a Salt Lake City, Utah native, was found dead early Saturday morning on the 3700 block of Georgia Avenue in Petworth.

Just before 2:00 a.m., Fourth District MPD officers responded to the call, and pronounced Right dead on the scene.

According to sources, Right fell from the top of the Park Place DC apartment building, though it is not known if the act was intentional or not.

Investigation is now underway, and MPD asks that anyone with information about the incident call 202-727-9099.
